Aesthetics in Wath upon Dearne, from a nurse who prescribes
Plenty of towns this size have somewhere you can get a treatment. Far fewer have a registered nurse who can prescribe, assess and treat you herself, in her own room, without sending your notes to somebody you will never meet.
That is what Fresh Face Aesthetics is. Rachel Boothroyd is a registered general nurse with over ten years of clinical experience and an independent nurse prescriber at MSc, level 7. She still works for the NHS as a Specialist Nurse Practitioner, a role she has held since 2016. The clinic on Firth Road is hers, and every appointment is with her.
Why that matters more than it sounds
A lot of aesthetics in this country is done by people who are trained to inject but cannot prescribe. Anti-wrinkle injections are a prescription medicine, so somebody else has to write the prescription, often remotely, often without seeing your face at all.
Rachel is the person other injectors in the area go to for that. She prescribes for other practitioners locally, which is the plainest evidence there is of where she sits in the local market. When you sit in her chair, the person assessing you, the person prescribing for you and the person treating you are all the same person, and she is in the room.
Which treatments are available in Wath?
Lip filler here is about balance rather than size: evenness, a little shape, and lips that still look like yours when you smile.
There are also anti-wrinkle injections for the lines that appear when the face moves, filler for cheeks, chin and jawline, and skin boosters and polynucleotides for skin quality rather than shape. There are also facials, peels and microneedling for anybody who would rather start with something that involves no injections at all.
Every price is published in full on the treatments page. Nothing is price on request.
Appointments that fit round a job
The hours are built for people who work. Monday and Thursday run until 6.30pm, so you can come after work rather than taking an afternoon off. Saturday mornings run from 9am to 1pm. Friday is split into a morning and an afternoon.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays the clinic is closed. Rachel still works for the NHS as a Specialist Nurse Practitioner alongside running the clinic.
What the room is actually like
It is one bright treatment room with a pitched ceiling, her certificates framed on the wall, and nobody else in it. Appointments are one at a time. There is no reception desk, no waiting area full of people and nobody at the next chair who knows your mum.
In a town the size of Wath that matters more than it would in a city. A lot of people would rather their business stayed their business, and the way the clinic is set up means it does.
You are not being rushed out
The length shown against each treatment when you book is the length actually blocked out in her diary, not an optimistic guess. If a treatment needs longer, it is booked for longer.
That matters most on a first visit, because the injecting is the short part. The conversation, the medical history and the assessment a prescriber has to do before she treats you are the rest of it, and none of that is worth hurrying.
If you are nervous, say so
The thing her clients write about most often is not the result. It is that she puts them at ease. That comes up more than anything else in her reviews, and it is usually from people who arrived frightened and slightly embarrassed about being frightened.
Being nervous about a needle near your face is an ordinary reaction, not a character flaw, and it is not a reason to put up with something that bothers you. Say it when you book. She will go slower, explain more and stop when you ask.
If something was done elsewhere and you are not happy
There is no lecture attached to this. Rachel dissolves filler placed by somebody else, and can refill afterwards if that is what you want.
It matters that this is done by somebody medically qualified. She is trained in managing complications and holds the medicine used to dissolve filler in an emergency. That is the question worth asking anybody you are considering, not just her.
She will tell you if you do not need it
One of her clients put it better than any advert would: she is honest, knowledgeable and will never do something that is not needed. If you come in asking for a treatment and Rachel does not think it will help, she will say so, and she will tell you what would.
That is the whole reason a consultation exists. Book one, say what is bothering you, and get a straight answer before you commit to anything.
Booking
Choose a treatment and a time on this website and it goes to Rachel as a request. She rings or messages back to confirm it, because she wants to know she can give you the right appointment length and that the treatment is right for you in the first place. It is not an instant booking and it is not meant to be.
