What anti-wrinkle injections do

The lines people ask about most are the ones that appear when the face moves: across the forehead, between the eyebrows, and at the outer corners of the eyes. They are made by muscles pulling on the skin. Relaxing those muscles a little softens the line, and over time stops it setting in as deeply.

It does not fill anything in. If a line is there when your face is completely still, that is a different problem, and dermal filler or a skin booster may be the better answer. Rachel will say so rather than sell you the wrong thing.

You will still look like you

The fear almost everyone arrives with is looking frozen or surprised. That comes from too much product, or from treating an area that should have been left alone. Rachel treats conservatively, and would rather you came back two weeks later for a small top up than walked out with too much.

What happens on the day

Your first appointment starts with a conversation, not a needle. Rachel goes through your medical history and the medicines you take, asks what is bothering you, and watches your face move. If she is happy to treat you, she prescribes and treats in the same visit.

The injections themselves take a few minutes. Most people describe a sharp scratch rather than pain. You can go back to work afterwards.

Afterwards

  • Stay upright for four hours, and avoid rubbing or pressing the area
  • No gym, sauna or hot yoga that day
  • Small bumps where the needle went in settle within an hour
  • Bruising is possible, especially around the eyes, and covers with makeup the next day

When you will see it

Nothing happens immediately. Most people notice a difference from around day three, and the full result at two weeks. That two week mark is when Rachel would want to see you after a first treatment, so she can check it has worked evenly and adjust if it has not.

Other areas

The same medicine treats several things that are not about wrinkles at all: a lip flip to show a little more of the top lip, a gummy smile, a dimpling chin, a jawline that has squared from clenching, and excessive underarm sweating. They are all on the price list above.
