How close is the clinic to Swinton?

About as close as a clinic can be without being in the town itself. Swinton and Wath upon Dearne are next-door towns in the Rotherham borough, and the whole trip is a matter of minutes rather than a planned outing.

One thing worth saying, because search engines get it wrong: this is Swinton near Rotherham and Mexborough, on the River Don, not Swinton in Greater Manchester. If you are in the South Yorkshire one, you are in the right place.

The clinic is at 47 Firth Road, and Rachel will help with directions when she confirms your booking.

Why being close matters after treatment

Most people think about the journey to the first appointment. The trips that follow matter just as much, and they are where living a few minutes away pays off.

After a first round of anti-wrinkle injections, the full result shows at around two weeks, and that is the point Rachel likes to see you again, to check both sides have settled evenly. With dermal filler, two weeks is also when any slight unevenness becomes clear once swelling has gone, and a small top-up may be needed. Skin boosters are usually booked as a course of three.

None of that is a problem when the clinic is down the road. It is the kind of follow-up that gets skipped when every visit means a long drive, and skipping it is how small problems become lasting ones.

Nervous about needles?

You would be in good company. The thing clients mention most in Rachel's reviews is not the result, it is how settled she made them feel, and many of those words come from people who walked in anxious.

A few things make a real difference. Tell her when you book, so the appointment is not rushed. Ask her to explain each step before she does it, which she will anyway. Lip treatments start with a numbing cream, and there is local anaesthetic mixed into the filler as well. And you can stop at any point, for any reason, without anybody making you feel awkward about it.

If you would rather build up to injections, begin with a facial, dermaplaning or a peel, which involve no injections at all, and get to know the room and Rachel first.

Aesthetics for Swinton: more than lines and lips

Some of the most useful treatments here are the quiet ones. Skin boosters and polynucleotides improve how skin behaves, how well it holds water, how smooth it feels, how thin or crepey it looks, without touching your features. Polynucleotides can go under the eyes, across the whole face, or on the neck and chest, an area that often ages faster than the face without anybody noticing until it no longer matches.

For the lines that appear when your face moves, there are anti-wrinkle injections. For lost volume in the cheeks, chin, jaw or lips there is dermal filler and lip filler. And for underarm sweating that is out of proportion to the weather, there is a prescription treatment for hyperhidrosis.

Does it matter who prescribes?

For anything containing a prescription medicine, it matters a great deal. Anti-wrinkle injections and the sweating treatment both need one, and in much of the industry the person injecting has to get it from somebody else, sometimes after a video call.

Rachel holds the prescribing qualification herself, at MSc level, on top of her background as a registered general nurse of more than ten years. She is also the prescriber some other local practitioners turn to for their own clients. Assessment, prescription and treatment happen in one appointment, by one person. The same care is why she will not treat anybody who is pregnant or breastfeeding, or anybody under 18.

Before your appointment

A little preparation makes the first visit smoother:

  • Have a list of any medicines and supplements you take, including anything bought over the counter.
  • Remember any aesthetic treatment you have had before, roughly when, and anything that went wrong.
  • If you get cold sores and are booking lip filler, say so beforehand, because treatment around the mouth can set one off.
  • Leave at least two clear weeks between an injectable treatment and a big occasion.

None of it needs to be perfect. Rachel will go through it all with you anyway, but it saves time on the day.

When can you get an appointment?

Being so close, even a short slot is worth using. Friday has two: 10am to 12pm and 3pm to 5pm. Monday and Thursday run from the morning through to 6.30pm, with Thursday starting at 11am, and Saturday is 9am to 1pm. There are no appointments on Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday.

What it costs

All of Rachel's prices, for single treatments and for courses, are on the treatments page, taken directly from her price list, and the packages page shows the combinations she offers.
